Circle Of Security

As parents, we worry and wonder if we are doing the right thing to support our children’s development from infant to adulthood. The Circle of Security Programme looks at attachment and building positive relationships. John Bowlby explained that “Intimate attachments to other human beings are the hub around which a person’s life revolves, not only as an infant or a toddler or a schoolchild but throughout adolescence and years of maturity as well, and on into old age. From these intimate attachments a person draws strength and enjoyment of life and, through what he contributes, gives strength and enjoyment to others. These are matters about which current science and traditional wisdom are at one.”(Bowlby, J. (1980) Attachment and Loss: Volume 1. Attachment. Basic Books: New York.)

Join us for a 6 week programme beginning the 11th of September in Phobail Le Cheile in Falcarragh. This programme will be facilitated by Josephine Meehan and Donna Jacob. We plan to run a programme in the Finn Valley Family Resource Centre in October/November and also in the Inishowen area. Get in touch to learn more 0860218803.

“It opened my eyes to parenting in a different way and understand my own feelings and my wains feelings a lot more”– statement from a parent who completed the Circle of Security Programme
